What is an Arangetram?

The word ‘Arangetram” means “to ascend the stage” in Tamil, one of the many  languages spoken in India. An Arangetram is an extremely important and memorable milestone in a Bharatanatyam dancer’s life. It is a solo performance for the dancer, showcasing their classical dancing skills they have worked on with their guru (teacher) since the start of their dance journey. A full Arangetram repertoire consists of eight to nine different dances.
